Deep Cleaning

Scaling and root planing, also known as conventional periodontal therapy, non-surgical periodontal therapy or deep cleaning, is a procedure involving removal of dental plaque and calculus (scaling or debridement) and then smoothing.

Dental Specialists of Broward Group recommend to us every patient to at least visit us at our clinic at least twice a year for checkups. We give dental cleaning and teeth polishing on every checkup to maintain your oral hygiene plus oral health. In case of periodontal problems, we ask the patient to visit us a few times a year for dental cleaning and teeth polishing as per requirement.

Periodontitis is a Periodontal disease. Plaque is always forming on your teeth, but if they aren’t cleaned well, the bacteria in plaque can cause your gums to become inflamed. When this happens, your gums will pull away from your teeth and form spaces called pockets. Plaque then gets trapped in these pockets and cannot be removed with regular brushing. If left untreated, gum disease could lead to bone and tooth loss.

To avoid tooth loss call us and book an appointment for scaling and root planning for a patient having periodontal pockets. Anesthesia is used because this a process of deep cleaning of teeth and can be painful. Our specialist removes all bacteria and tart from the gum pockets and you get rid of inflammation. This helps in preventing the destruction of bones and gums.
